I.N.D.O.T. Maintenance

Indianapolis, IN

The Indiana Department of Transportation needed a new facility and selected a site at Brookville and Interstate 465.  This structural steel framed building with precast wall panels, a barrel roof over the offices covered with metal panels EDPM roofing over the balance of the building will not only be used to service there fleet of vehicles, store salt, dispatch the highway maintenance crews and house the administrative staff; it will also be a show place to welcome their counter-parts from other areas of the state and around the country.

As you enter this grand facility you are met with the towering clear story of the barrel roof with strip windows immediately below roof that gives an open yet warm feel.  The 5’ diameter bronze medallion let into the terrazzo floor adds to the beauty of this space.  The office area consists of meeting rooms, offices, a full kitchen and two meeting areas.  The maintenance area is state of the art.  Hose reels containing compressed air, lube oil & grease and exhaust hoses hang in the air above each work bay. Two bridge cranes service the two primary working areas and truck / vehicle lifts were installed for servicing the fleet.  A truck wash area, complete with a system to capture the salt and sludge water cleaned from the vehicles, was incorporated into this facility.
